The waka is complete – our job is done – haere ra San Fran – all the best TeamNZ! Thanks for the special farewell last night to the Waka Boys – we are proud to have worked with you all. We wish you all the best – Kia Kaha – Bring that Cup back to the City of Sails. Good luck to Ross, Ian, Andy, Dalts, Joey and the team.
hi everyone – the waka is going along very well – we have been tensioning the fabric and external lighting. The waka is making such a big impact with the locals here – they are so interested in what we are doing – so it is great to have a lot of local sanfran support.
Tensioning the fabric is a big job, so we are putting every ounce of energy into making the waka look great for the America’s Cup.
Team NZ are a great bunch of people – they are gearing up to win the Cup and we are right behind them – they are very impressed with the waka – and glad to have a showpiece to compliment the campaign.
Emirates TeamNZ asked us to go our on their chase boat to go out on the harbour and view Alcatraz Island, and go underneath the Golden Gate bridge – The chase boat is a Catalyst 45 – with 1200 horse power on the back – we were travelling at 45 knots which is an experience in itself. Curly the captain of the boat was awesome – we got to see Sol Solito too which was pretty cool. We got on the other side of Golden Gate bridge – we got to see dolphins, sea lions, pelicans and whales – it was an awesome trip – thanks Curly and Craig from Emirates TeamNZ
